STAT Care Family Medical is a convenient care medical facility which opened on January 2, 2008. Located at 625 Chester Pike in Prospect Park, STAT Care providers treat illnesses and injuries on a walk-in basis when appointments at a primary care office are not available, when a patient does not have a primary care provider, or as an alternative to a costly and time-consuming hospital emergency room visit. No appointment is needed and minimal waiting time is required for diagnosis, treatment, and preventive medical care. STAT Care is staffed by Physician Assistants (PAs) and advanced practice Nurse Practitioners (NPs) under the supervision of board-certified adult, adolescent and pediatric medical doctors. On-site medical providers diagnose and treat common and urgent illnesses and injuries, and can write prescriptions and order lab tests, x-rays and special studies.

Services

Examples of conditions that STAT Care medical professionals treat are

Ear aches and upper respiratory infections
Colds, coughs, sore throats and flu
Sprains, strains, bruises, and lacerations (including suturing simple wounds)
Skin problems: rashes, minor burns, infections, abscesses (including incising/draining), and wart removal
Bladder infections
Non-serious asthma attacks and allergic reactions
School, camp, sports and state drivers license physicals
Wellness screenings
Pediatric and adult physical examinations

Also offered are screening tests and immunizations including

Rapid “strep” testing; mononucleosis testing
Urinalysis
Blood glucose (finger stick method)
Pregnancy test (urine)
Tuberculosis (PPD) testing
Blood in stool (fecal occult blood testing)

HOURS OF OPERATION

STAT Care is open seven days a week with convenient hours of operation
Mondays through Thursdays, 12 noon to 8 pm
Fridays and Saturdays, 8 am to 4 pm
Sundays, 12 noon to 4 pm

PATIENT POPULATION

STAT Care clinicians generally treat patients ages 2 and up. Proof of past immunizations is required to perform pediatric and adult physical examinations and prepare necessary documents.

COORDINATION OF CARE

To the extent possible and with the patient's consent, diagnoses, treatment provided and recommendations for follow up care will be shared with a primary care or specialty office.

STAT Care medical services are intended to supplement and extend the quality care provided by primary care and specialty providers, and are not intended to replace it. For this reason STAT Care staff will assist in scheduling follow up appointments and testing, and coordinate this care to the extent possible with the patient's primary and specialty medical providers.

Care of illnesses and injuries will be provided within the accepted high standards of the medical profession. However, if in the clinician's view the patient's illness or injury requires a higher level of care than is provided at the STAT Care office, patients will be referred urgently to the nearest hospital emergency department.

STAT Care Family Medical is not equipped to care for patients with chest pain, abdominal pain, severe bleeding or injuries, severe asthma attack, respiratory (breathing) distress or other life-threatening conditions. Patients with these and other severe conditions should seek immediate medical care at the nearest emergency department.
