Chester County LifeCare Hospital Launches in West Chester

Advanced Healthcare Facility Joins Devon Health Provider Network

King of Prussia, PA – December 13, 2005 – Devon Health Services, Inc., a National Healthcare Cost Management company and the Northeast’s most extensive Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), has added the newly opened LifeCare Hospitals of Chester County to its provider network.

The Chester County hospital, one of 21 nationwide LifeCare facilities, is a 39-bed specialty acute care facility dedicated to combining intensive medical interventions and rehabilitation therapy to patients with complex and multi-system disorders. The hospital receives patients from community hospital intensive care units, dramatically reducing the incidence of long term setbacks.

“Valuable treatment time is lost when patients suffering from catastrophic accidents or illnesses decondition,” says Rosalie Cox, Chief Executive Officer of LifeCare Hospitals of Chester County. “Our community hospital counterparts are superbly equipped to provide state-of-the-art medical care. We shine in those infrequent situations where the patient is so persistently treatment-resistant that they need a highly structured interdisciplinary therapy regimen, coupled with highly intensive medical care. We believe that every patient deserves a chance to succeed, and share with Devon Health the commitment to providing quality healthcare. We are excited to join their strong provider network.”

“LifeCare Hospitals of Chester County offers not only a diverse facility and excellent patient services, but also a compassionate staff committed to caring for one patient at a time,” says Bill Bruce, Director of Hospital Relations for Devon Health. “We are excited that LifeCare has opened a hospital in our backyard, and look forward to helping them succeed.”

Opened in September, the hospital provides a complex continuum of care, including telemetry and 24-hour video monitoring intensive-care-level capabilities. The facility is proud to offer modern and well-furnished physical and occupational therapy facilities. LifeCare’s physicians will also typically be on the medical staff at Chester County Hospital or other local facilities.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
