DEVON HEALTH AND MEDX PARTNER TO FORM PREMIER CLINICAL TRIALS
ORGANIZATION, ANTEAN
King of Prussia, PA— November 2, 2005— Devon Health Services, Inc., the
Northeast’s most extensive Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and National
Healthcare Cost Management company, and MedX, a company dedicated to providing
intelligent hiring solutions, announced a strategic alliance agreement creating
a new clinical trials subsidiary, Antean.
Clinical trials are mandatory when introducing innovative technologies and
keeping the public safe. Certain clinical trials can be cumbersome for
physicians and pharmaceutical companies without the proper information,
staffing, and resources.
“Devon Health has been interested in the clinical research industry for several
years,†says Barbara Grundy Evans, Vice President for Devon Health. “When
researching the clinical trials space, we recognized the need for a company
that could act as a single source to help more physicians be accessible for
clinical trials and provide services to help them conduct those trials more
effectively. This is Antean’s goal.â€
Devon Health and MedX integrated resources to create the industry’s largest and
most comprehensive database of current and potential clinical investigators,
and provide the support services and tools to make clinical trials successful,
efficient, and compliant with regulations. These resources formed Antean.
“Antean is the clinical research support company that is dedicated to removing
barriers that arise before and during clinical trials,†says David Weitz,
President of Antean. “With the combined expertise and industry experience that
Devon Health and MedX have at their disposal, we are confident that Antean will
be successful.â€
Antean is able to meet the needs of both physicians and pharmaceutical
companies. “Antean can not only provide pharmaceutical companies access to
specialty physicians and a broad potential patient base for clinical trials,
but also offer physicians a way to increase their profit margin,†says James
Stewart, Executive Vice President of MedX. “I believe there is a real need for
a company like Antean and that we'll make an enormous impact on the clinical
trials industry.â€
