Devon Health Announces Winners of 2nd Annual Devon Scholars Scholarship Contest
Partial Tuition Payments Awarded to Three High School Seniors
King of Prussia, PA – May 18, 2006 – Devon Health Services, Inc., has announced the winners of its second annual Devon Scholars Scholarship Contest. Devon Health is the Northeast’s most extensive Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and National Healthcare Cost Management Company.
The winners are: 1st place – Janell Dyitt, 18, of Strath Haven High School in Wallingford, Pennsylvania; 2nd place – Lyndsay Adams, 19, of North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pennsylvania; 3rd place – Kevin Zengel, 19, of Henry Hudson Regional School in Highlands, New Jersey.
“We are happy to help these three special and unique individuals achieve their goals in college and beyond,” says Jamila Grant, public relations manager for Devon Health and chair of the scholarship committee.
Devon Health launched the Devon Scholars Fund last year in response to the healthcare industry’s lack of qualified professionals. This year, 300 applicants from over a dozen states vied for the scholarship prizes. Award money in the form of tuition payment is given to the winners’ university or college of choice.
“Devon Health recognizes the importance of educating young healthcare professionals,” says Grant. “The Devon Scholars program helps accomplish this goal by supporting those interested in pursuing healthcare related fields.”
The scholarship contest is based on applicants’ financial need, grades, community involvement, extracurricular activities, personal and professional references, and an essay.
