Devon Cares Program Impacts Thousands in 2005
Money Raised for Cancer Research, Tsunami Victims, Local Children
King of Prussia, PA – January 11, 2006 – Devon Cares, the philanthropic arm of
Devon Health Services, Inc., made donations to benefit thousands of people
domestically and abroad in 2005. Devon Health is a National Healthcare Cost
Management Company and the Northeast’s most extensive Preferred Provider
Organization (PPO).
Devon Cares raised over $3,000 for breast cancer research by participating in
the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk and a
three-day walk to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
“Many of us at Devon Health know family members and friends who are battling
breast cancer,” says Gayla Sexton, Assistant Vice President of Operations for
Devon Health. “Taking part in these events allows us to help in the struggle
and raise money for a cure.”
Devon Health employees raised money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Over $3,000 was donated to David Falcone to encourage his efforts in a marathon
that benefited the society. David is the brother of Devon Health President,
Charles J. Falcone.
Devon Cares also donated $500 to the Red Cross to support the tsunami victims
and $500 to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. During the holiday season, Devon
Cares participated in the 10th Annual Greater Philadelphia Coat Drive,
collecting coats to be distributed to senior citizens, public school children,
and the homeless, and made donations to the Child Abuse Prevention Effort
(CAPE) Toy Drive.
“Devon Health and its compassionate employees feel a responsibility to give back
to the community,” say Sexton. “Participating in these programs through Devon
Cares provides an outlet to accomplish this goal.”
